Back to the Blog!

Mom was just looking back through my blog entries and thinking what a good record it was of my babyhood...since she's not very good at keeping up with real scrapbooks, we're going to try to post here more often now!  Then hopefully someday she'll get around to putting all of this into a photobook for me...

So anyway, since my last entry, we've added a little brother to the Ranch!  He'll be six weeks old already this weekend.  I'm starting to get used to him being around the house - at first I was a little too crazy and mom and dad had to keep telling me to slow down around him and to stop jumping on the couch.  I didn't like to hear him crying - that made me hold my ears and stomp my feet.  Now I like to kiss him and hug him, though mom still says that I could be a little more gentle about it!

Finn is just starting to smile a little, mostly when he's laying on his back looking up at us.  He wasn't quite as big as me when he was born, but he's catching up - at his one month check-up he was in the 91st percentile for weight (11lb 9.5oz) and 97th for height.  His face has some of the baby acne bumps on it, but we still think he's pretty cute.  People like to comment on how strong he is since he can lift his head up by himself.  I tell him what things are called and am excited to teach him "silages" (sign language) when he gets a little older.

I've been keeping busy with preschool on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.  Mom stays with me on some days since it's a co-op program.  School is almost over, but we'll be back next year.  I like Teacher Joan!  Mom is on the board so she'll still have to go to meetings during the summer.  I also do dance class on Tuesdays - I'm in the hip-hop 3-4yr old class and we're learning our routine for our summer recital.  Now that we have a new baby around, Mom says that I seem really grown-up to her.  I like to ask how to spell things so that I can practice writing my letters, and I still spend lots of hours playing with my imaginary friends.  My favorite place to play, though, is in the barn with my chickens, ducks and cats!

Crunchy Leaves!

Last week I took my first "official" lesson on Prince at Tami's arena and LOVED it!  Prince kicked a big yoga ball around while I rode him between the goal posts.  I even trotted around the whole arena by myself a couple of times.  Today was a perfect fall day to practice around the neighborhood...lots of deep leaves to crunch through!

Baby Buns

IMG_8233About a month ago, naughty Chino destroyed a bunny nest so we took the babies inside to raise.  One survived to be released back into our woods – it was fun to nurse a baby bunny!

Ready to go!

Port-a-pot with a view…

Last weekend we got to cruise around a local lake (Panther) in Dad’s boat…I had fun casting my pretend fishing pole and using the potty in the middle of the lake!

Spring Chickens!

ChickHatchRight on schedule, the chicks started hatching this morning!  I hurried outside so that I could see them as they were coming out of their eggs.  So far three are out, and there are six more to go.  We could see the little “pips” on the unhatched eggs where the chicks were starting to peck their way out.  So cool!

Spring is here!

Today was beautiful – no rain, lots of sun!  Mom, Dad and I all spent the day working hard outside.  I collected eggs, fed the old apples and bananas to the goats and horses and dug for worms.  Mom and I have been building a nice house for Siddle and Diddle to live in…hopefully it will be done soon so I can post some photos of it!

By the way, Diddle is one of the ducks from two blog entries ago…scroll down to see how tiny he was less than two months ago!  Siddle is a little smaller, but she didn’t want to be in the picture today Smile.

Snack Quackers

Last week another chicken hatched out two ducklings so we brought them inside the house to live in a cage until they get a little bigger.  They’ve adopted me as their mom and like to follow me around!  Mom says they must be pretty tough because they don’t seem to mind all of my handling…this morning I even stuffed both of them into a ziploc sandwich baggy when Mom wasn’t looking.

I love swimming!

PoolSmileToday was my third class without Mama in the water with me – I don’t miss her at all!  She’s pretty happy about not having to get into the water with me too…she’d rather be on the outside taking pictures.

Chomp Chomp

100_5162Mama took me to the Seattle Kids Museum to see the Clifford exhibit on Thursday.  Clifford was cool, but my favorite part of the visit was playing with scissors in the Art Room.  This was only my second time using scissors, and I found that I was pretty good at it!  Mama said that watching me was better than watching TV…she noticed that my mouth moved in sync with the scissors!

Barrel Racing Awards

Yesterday Mom and I went to Stanwood to the Awards Banquet for the Stillaguamish Valley Horsemen Club.  The SVH Club sponsored the gaming show series that we rode our horses in this summer.  We were surprised to find that we both got prizes there!  I was in the “Little Trainers” division and was the first person to stand up to get my award.  I was a little confused…I thought that I only got to pick one thing, but it turned out that the whole bucket, along with the prizes inside of it were all for me!  I got some fun plastic ponies, a bouncy ball, some bubbles, and a few nice brushes for Prince.  There was a bag full of horse treats for Prince too!
Mom rode Dozer in the "Novice" division...she won a nice turnout sheet for him.  We're both excited to do it again next summer!

1st Preschool Class

SVH awards preschool 002Friday was my first day at Preschool with Teacher Lisa.  Preschool is in the same place as Toddler (Baby) school was, but the class is run a little differently.  Instead of mostly free-play time with song and story times, we talk about the calendar and the weather during circle time, and then do an art project all together.  We still get free-play time at the end – my favorite part!  I did really well sitting through the learning time and art time.  I’ll have to practice raising my hand like the big kids did.  I made a nice leaf rubbing picture to bring home and had fun playing with my old friend Dylan.  I’m excited to go again next week!

Vote for Mady!

I know that everyone is sick of campaigns, but here’s a cute one…vote for Mady in the Everett Herald Costume Contest!  You can vote three times for the same one (hint, hint…)
